About Us

Unity in Sound Community Choir is a women’s choir based in Ipplepen. Members are a mix of ages, life stages and backgrounds.

The choir reconvened in the first week of September after our summer break, and what a busy first week we had! As well as brushing up the songs for our performance later in September at Abbfest, we made a start on learning two brand new arrangements, joined by a record number of 11 ladies trying choir for the first time or returning after time away. The hall was packed and the atmosphere was just brilliant.

We followed this up a couple of days later with a social event: a garden party hosted by our Musical Director’s family as part of the choir’s ongoing 10th year celebrations. Around 35 members enjoyed afternoon tea in glorious late summer sunshine.

For our October gig, the choir is taking a trip to neighbouring village Broadhempston, on Saturday 18th, for a concert at the village hall. Tickets cost £8 and will be available on ticket source or on the door, with proceeds helping to fund a trip of a lifetime for the teenage son of one of our members with his school to Costa Rica, to learn new skills and be involved in projects that benefit rural communities. Please come along to enjoy an evening of entertainment in support of a good cause. Doors open at 7.15 for a 7.45 start.

For more updates on what the choir is getting up to in its 10th year, and information about how to join us, please follow Unity in Sound Community Choir on Facebook and Instagram.

Our aim is to grow our numbers. We’re a non-audition choir singing a range of different parts so there’s sure to be something to suit every voice. So whether you’re a total novice, rusty or an experienced singer, why not come and try Unity in Sound Community Choir – we’d be delighted to see you. MORE…
