Unity in Sound Community Choir is a women’s choir based in Ipplepen. Members are a mix of ages, life stages and backgrounds.
Unity in Sound are planning 12 months of celebration, culminating in the 10 year anniversary of the formation of the choir in its current incarnation. In April we will kick things off with a trip down memory lane, by recreating Unity in Sound’s first ever gig.
Ipplepen’s ladies choir became Unity in Sound under a new musical director in spring 2026. Our first public performance was later that year, when we were invited to sing by the Clock Tower in Newton Abbot for the visit of the Bishop of Plymouth and other dignitaries, who were touring the town.

The choir’s membership has more than doubled since then, so you can expect to see and hear quite a few more of us if you are out and about in Newton Abbot on Saturday 5th April at 11am. We will be busking in the same spot to raise funds to buy some shiny new choir T-shirts to freshen up our look for our 10th anniversary year.

We are a non-audition ladies choir rehearsing between 7.30 and 9.30 on Thursday evenings in St Andrew’s Church Hall Ipplepen. Some of our ladies sing very low (our basses), whilst those who sing in the higher registers make up our top soprano section. Most of us are somewhere in between! If you have no idea what your vocal range is, or have never sung before but would like to give it a go, just come along and we will figure out which section is for you.

Our aim is to grow our numbers. We’re a non-audition choir singing a range of different parts so there’s sure to be something to suit every voice.
